New Pet Visits

Your new pet brings love and joy to your home. A new pet visit at AMC sets the precedent for the rest of your animal’s life. Our animal care team will thoroughly check your animal for disease, infections and injuries. A thorough exam includes the following checks:

  • Ears – survey for growths, parasites and infections.

  • Eyes – check for light reactions and discoloring.

  • Skin and coat – examine dry skin, excessive shedding and lesions.

  • Weight – measure weight and size.

  • Teeth – check for periodontal issues.

  • Heart and lungs – heart murmurs can be detected using a stethoscope.

Medical & Surgical

Your pet is family, and we understand that the idea of surgery can feel stressful. The veterinary team at Animal Medical Center is here to support you with compassionate care, clear communication, and experienced medical guidance every step of the way.

We specialize in soft tissue surgery, which includes procedures involving the skin, organs, and other soft tissues. These surgeries are commonly performed to diagnose and treat illness, improve comfort, and support your pet’s overall health and recovery.

Our soft tissue surgical services include:

  • Spay and neuter procedures

  • Tumor and mass removals

  • Foreign body removal

  • Wound repair

  • Skin biopsies

  • Eye and eyelid procedures

  • Other routine, non-orthopedic surgical needs

Please note that we do not perform major orthopedic surgeries. If your pet requires orthopedic surgery, we are happy to recommend a trusted orthopedic surgical specialist.

Laser Surgery

In many procedures, the laser can replace the scalpel and provide a better alternative to traditional surgery.

  • Less pain – laser energy seals nerve endings as it moves through tissue. Your pet feels less pain post-operatively.

  • Less bleeding – the laser seals small blood vessels during surgery, which allows your doctor to perform surgeries with extraordinary precision. This also speeds some procedures, reducing the amount of anesthesia.

  • Less swelling – laser energy does not crush, tear or bruise because only a beam of intense light contracts the tissue.

  • Reduced risk of infection – the laser sterilizes as it removes diseased tissue, killing bacteria that cause infection.

  • Precision – the laser can remove unhealthy surrounding tissue.

  • Quickly return to normal activities – recovery is rapid and there is less post-operative discomfort.

Digital X-rays

Your dog or cat cannot explain where it hurts or describe symptoms for a vet.  Our Digital X-Ray system is state of the art. The team at Animal Medical Center of Appleton will complete comprehensive diagnostic testing to determine the extent of your pet’s needs. Digital X-rays can be used to expose internal issues difficult to discern otherwise. The ability to see inside an animal’s body is invaluable in treating underlying conditions. A radiograph (X-ray) can help to diagnose broken bones, internal bleeding, heartworm disease, tumors and even foreign objects that may be obstructing the intestinal tract.

Additional Diagnostics

Veterinary diagnostics extend far beyond radiology. Although an important part of the puzzle, X-rays are used in conjunction with blood tests, urinalysis, fecal exams and electrocardiograms to create a complete picture of your animal’s health. We offer pets advanced diagnostic equipment, including an in-house laboratory so samples can be quickly and expertly reviewed and tested. The quicker turnaround time means a better experience for your animal and less waiting for you.

Dental Care

Pet dental care typically requires a vet to keep a lookout for issues you and your pet may not notice. Dental care may include teeth cleaning, examination and diagnostics if there are concerns. Potential animal dental issues include: Worn teeth, Jaw injury, Fractured teeth, Plaque, Abscesses, Gingivitis, Incorrect bite

Common Dental Issues

Pet dental care begins at home with a dental exam and cleaning performed by you. This is important so you can keep an eye out for symptoms that could mean trouble for your animal. You don’t have to be a veterinary dentist to practice great oral hygiene for your pet. Brushing your pet’s teeth is an important part of this process, but so is keeping an eye out for common symptoms that can mean something is wrong: Vomiting, Receding gums, Drooling, Bad Breath, Broken Teeth, Gingivitis, Cavities, Swollen or Bleeding Gums, Visible Tartar on Teeth, Trouble Chewing, Weight Loss

Digital Dental X-Rays

Our state of the art Digital Dental X-Ray machine gives us a quick look at the health of your pet’s teeth. We can focus above and below the gum line to find both obvious and hidden dental issues.
