Hot Weather Hazards

Summer brings heat, vacations, and outdoor fun—but heatstroke and water hazards can be dangerous.


Common Hazards:


Dogs and Cats:


  • Heatstroke from high temperatures

  • Hot pavement burning paw pads

  • Swimming hazards and unsupervised water access

  • Summer plants like lilies can be toxic


Exotic Pets:


  • Overheating in direct sun

  • Dehydration due to warm temperatures


Safety Tips:


  • Never leave pets in parked cars

  • Provide shade, water, and avoid walking dogs during peak heat

  • Supervise swimming and boating activities

  • Keep exotic enclosures shaded and hydrated; avoid temperature extremes
