Spring brings warmer weather, blooming flowers, and more time outdoors—but also unique hazards.

Common Hazards:

Dogs and Cats:

  • Pesticides and fertilizers on lawns

  • Spring allergies causing itching, sneezing, or watery eyes

  • Open windows and doors increasing escape risk

Exotic Pets:

  • Outdoor enclosures may expose them to fluctuating temperatures or predators

  • Pesticides, fertilizers, and flowering plants can be toxic if ingested

Safety Tips:

  • Avoid letting pets roam on freshly treated lawns

  • Rinse paws after outdoor play

  • Keep windows screened and supervise pets near doors

  • Monitor exotics’ outdoor exposure and provide safe shelter

  • Identify plants that may be toxic to both domestic and exotic pets
